Dubai’s yearly GITEX Technology Week is just around the corner, taking place from October 17th to 21st in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Plans for this year’s event are even bigger than previous years, and include a new really interesting track titled ‘GITEX Mobile Apps & Content World‘, which is focused on the sector of mobile applications and content, and aims to provide a high profile, dynamic framework for the mobile applications and entertainment market.

With a market worth an estimated US$30 billion, opportunities are immense, and there’s so much going on in this space as mobile operators and manufacturers scramble to open up their own apps stores as popular demand for apps to buy and download increases.

This GITEX event will also feature a four day Conference, organized and facilitated by TiE Dubai in association with du and GITEX, on the current upcoming (and futuristic trends) in Mobile Applications. The conference will cover Global and Regional Trends/innovation in Mobile Applications and market opportunity for Mobile Advertising.

Sharing their ideas at the conference will be a group of speakers from leading companies such as Nokia, Microsoft, Leo Burnett, Du and other large companies, as well as some highly talented Entrepreneurs from the Telecom, Media and Advertising sectors.

A great thing that’s also taking place is that TiE, in association with GITEX, will be sponsoring a number of exhibit pods/booths (worth $8000-10000) for entrepreneurs to showcase innovative and exciting ideas that have the potential to become Global Phenomena.

Applications are sought from both TiE members as well as non members. The short‐listed exhibitors will also get a chance to present their venture/ideas to potential customers, potential investors and partners, over the 5 day exhibition.

The event is open for application to budding companies and entrepreneurs from all around the world, without any restriction, subject to scrutiny and short‐listing. Interested entrepreneurs can find more details and apply through the following form: TiE GITEX 2010 application for “Start-up Showcase”.

The winning ideas will be presented on stage in front of a selected group of successful judges and an appreciative audience at GITEX at 2pm on October 21, 2010.

Nice move on creating the opportunity for young entrepreneurs and innovators to showcase their ideas/ventures. And the best part of it is that it’s free for these people who always need financial support. But don’t you think it’s very short-notice for us to know?I encourage every person with high-potential venture to apply, being there is better than not being there at all.Cheers, Tarek Kassar

It is a bit short notice, I agree; but according to what I know, they were waiting for things to be signed off and become official in order to announce it.

yeah, unfortunately then. I have three friends in Jordan who like the idea of applying to such events and get noticed but it’s short notice for them to come; they have full-time jobs.

Yallah next time. Thanks for letting us know Mohamed anyways.

    Cheers,

    Tarek
