gsea10_403.jpgPalestinian entrepreneur Hassan Hamdan, Co-Founder of Optimal Technology Solutions and recent graduate of Modern Science and Art University, has been awarded the “Lessons from the Edge Award” in the 2010 Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) Competition.

The award was given as a specialized category within the GSEA, a program of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization and the premier competition for students taking a full course load of classes while running a revenue-generating business.

He also came up as the Overall Second Runner Up in the competition, chosen from among 2000 student entrepreneurs from 44 countries; and earlier this year, he was picked as the Middle East Regional Champion by GSEA.

As the middle east regional student entrepreneur, Hassan attended the 2010 GSEA Global Finals on November 17 to 19 in Kansas City, Missouri, where he presented his business to an international panel of entrepreneurs, renowned journalists and business luminaries who support the endeavors of young student business owners around the world.

Hassan Hamdan, who grew up a Palestinian refugee, started his mobile-messaging company Optimal Technology Solutions at the age of 17, and has grown it into one of the leading technology companies companies in the region, providing high quality mobile messaging, digital marketing and customized business solutions to over 6000 businesses around the world.

Hamdan started his company virtually and then started opening offices around the region, in Khobar, Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Cairo, Egypt; Khartoum, Sudan; Manama, Bahrain, and Doha, Qatar. His ambitions are to reach beyond the Middle East; aiming to enter Turkey in 2013, and hoping to expand to the US within the next two years.

Among his largest business accomplishments to date is Resalty.Net, a mobile messaging portal used by over 100,000 people in 100 countries, that has been cash flow positive since day one, and is now generating seven figure revenues annually.

With all the work he is doing, Hamdan has his eyes set on proving that a high-tech telecom company can come to life in the Middle East as easily as it can in Europe, Japan, or the United States.
